McINTYRE CLAIMS FIRST CAREER 410 SPRINT CAR WIN;
MONTIETH TAKES SECOND OF TWIN 20'S TO HOLD ONTO POINTS LEAD;
Zentmyer holds off Watson to claim first career Lincoln thundercar win

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA , 8/29/09 - It was a tale of two races at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night. And the more things changed, the more they stayed the same.

Defending track champ Brian Montieth didn’t take kindly to being edged by 23rd-starting Fred Rahmer for sixth at the line of the first of Twin 20's for the 410 sprint cars and losing the points lead to second-place finisher Alan Krimes. So he went out and won the second feature.

The irony was that Montieth’s seventh-place finish (eight-thousandths of-a-second behind Rahmer) put Montieth up one row to sixth starting spot for the second feature event.

Montieth passed polesitter Bobby Weaver for third by the end of the fourth lap, then caught Cory Haas for second on a 10th-lap restart. He pulled onto the back bumper of race-long leader Johnny Mackison, Jr. during a 13th-lap caution for a spinning Brian Leppo in turn four, and chased the B&B Metal Refinishing #65 for the next two lap before making the race-winning pass under Mackison coming off turn four of lap 14.

The 2009 sprint car season is already approaching its fourth week of 410 racing action. After 3 consecutive Saturday races at Lincoln Speedway, Alan Krimes is off to a steady start. While day racing provides spectators with early excitement, it certainly is not always as fun for the drivers. Often times, luck of the draw can dictate the outcome of a given driver’s success in the early going. Krimes entered this past Saturday’s event, 5th in the Lawrence Chevrolet Point Standings, at Lincoln Speedway. Unfortunately, Alan drew the 18th starting spot in Saturday’s feature. Coming from the back proved difficult under less than favorable track conditions. However, this weekend marks transition from day shows to night races. If history holds true, the driver of the Conestoga Valley 87, will begin his ascent through the point standings. Krimes is notably more consistent and increasingly successful under the lights, as compared with day races.

Fortunately, Williams Grove has transitioned to a new schedule format, which has omitted all day races. Alan and his crew are poised to make an early charge at the Grove, in 2009. Look for the 87 to be in victory lane early and often this season. Consistency has been the theme of Alan Krimes Racing over the past few seasons and breakout year seems inevitable.
